Top up your wallet

TebibHost is prepaid. You put money in your organization’s wallet, and usage is taken from it hour by hour. Prices are in US dollars; you pay in your own currency at the day’s published exchange rate, and the wallet is credited in USD.

Pay with M-Pesa (Kenya)

An M-Pesa top-up sends a payment prompt (STK push) to the phone you name. You confirm it with your M-Pesa PIN, and the wallet is credited as soon as Safaricom confirms the payment, usually within a minute.

Console

1. Open Billing for your organization.
2. Under Top up, enter the amount in KES and the M-Pesa phone number that will pay (for example 0712345678).
3. Confirm the prompt on the phone with your PIN.
4. The page shows the top-up until it settles, then Payment received. The new balance and runway appear at the top of the page.

--wait waits until the payment succeeded, failed or expired, and exits with code 1 unless it succeeded. Check the result and your balance:

Pay from the M-Pesa menu (paybill)

You can also pay without starting a top-up first: send the money to the TebibHost paybill number with your organization’s account number (your organization ID without the o- prefix, shown on the Billing page). Payments to an unknown account number are refused by M-Pesa before any money moves.

Chapa (Ethiopia)

Coming soon

Top-ups through Chapa (telebirr, CBE Birr, M-Pesa Ethiopia, bank transfer and Ethiopian cards in ETB, or international Visa and Mastercard in USD) are built and will open with signup for organizations in Ethiopia.

What happens next

• Your first successful top-up verifies the paying phone and moves the organization to the payment_verified tier, with higher limits. See Quotas and tiers.
• Every top-up has a PDF receipt: Billing → Recent top-ups, or tebib billing receipt <top-up ID>.
• Promotional credit, if you have any, is used before your wallet.

If the payment doesn’t arrive

What you see	What it means
No prompt on the phone	The phone was off or out of coverage, or the number is wrong. Start a new top-up.
Top-up failed: cancelled on the phone	The prompt was dismissed. Nothing was charged.
Top-up stays pending	TebibHost asks M-Pesa for the result after 90 seconds and keeps checking for 24 hours. A payment that succeeds later is still credited.
“No current exchange rate”	Top-ups in that currency pause rather than use an old rate. Try again later.

Money never goes missing: a payment that can’t be matched to a top-up is held for staff to credit or refund by hand. See Prepaid billing and the ledger.
