Regions

This content is not available in your language yet.

A region is one location with its own compute, storage and network. Resources live in one region, and their resource names include it.

Region Location Status
lab-neo-1 A single site outside Africa (Europe), on TebibHost’s lab hardware Preview: for trying the platform, not for production data
Nairobi (name to be announced) Nairobi, Kenya Coming with the public beta
  • Latency: the lab region is far from East Africa, so round trips from Nairobi are much longer than they will be to the Nairobi region. Latency-sensitive workloads should wait for it.
  • Durability: disks are replicated within the region, and TebibHost backs up its own platform data. Your VMs and volumes are not backed up for you: keep copies of anything you can’t lose elsewhere. See Shared responsibility.
  • Data location: data in lab-neo-1 is stored outside Africa. Don’t put personal data there that must stay in Kenya or Ethiopia.

Each organization has a home region, set when it is created. Its billing, identity documents for verification, and organization data are kept there.
